  1. Please forward to Dr. Patrick Rose,
I am completing a dissertation on the 1st Canadian Armoured Brigade’s operations in Sicily and Italy from Jul 43 to Dec 44. In their private correspondence, both Montgomery and Leese are repeatedly effusive in their praise of 1 CAB rating it the best armoured brigade in the 8th Army. According to both, the brigade is aggressive and has established excellent relations with the British and especially Indian units it supports during that difficult campaign.
Could we have a conversation about the 8th Army’s command culture during the Italian Campaign? I would appreciate your guidance and counsel in my research
