Here is a current list of projects being undertaken by members of The Second World War Military Operations Research Group.

Dr Harry Bennett is currently working on the following projects:

  • British Intelligence and German attempts to Penetrate Allied Air Forces 1941-44
  • Patterns of Interaction between Shipwrecked British and American Merchant Mariners and U-boat Crews in the Battle of the Atlantic
  • Displacement, Dislocation and the aircrew of the Forces aériennes françaises libres 1940-44: Towards a Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis
  • The other critical convoy battles of 1943: The Eclipse of the Schnellboot in the English Channel and North Sea
  • The Limits of Justice: The Post-War Investigation and Defensive Strategies of Walter Gieseke (Oberstleutnant of the Gendarmerie and SS)

  • Developing the ‘Air Force Spirit’: Organisational Culture, Leadership Development and the RAF Staff College, 1922-1939

Dr Andrew Stewart is currently working on the following projects:

  • ‘If the Invader Comes: Britain’s Darkest Days’, contracted with the Oxford University Press for publication in 2015, will assess British defence planning in 1940
  • ‘The Forgotten First Victory: The British Empire and the Second World War East African Campaign’, contracted by Helion and Company for publication in 2016, examines the campaign fought in East Africa from 1940-1941
